We purchased this box from Amazon to have a place for deliveries to be hidden from porch pirates. The idea is that porch pirates will not be as likely to take our deliveries because they don't know if we really have one. They have to risk coming up to our porch and open the box just to find 90% of the time there is nothing in the box. Why bother with that when they can just drive down the street to a house where they can see a package sitting on the porch? If they see a package, they know they will get something for their risk. But at our house, they are taking a risk for 90% of the time getting nothing at all.

The only problem with this is some delivery people must have been absent the day in kindergarten or Sesame Street when they taught the difference between "Near and Far", "Sit and Sat", and especially between "In and On". Temu delivery drivers always put their deliveries "ON" the box instead of "IN" the box. The sign clearly says to put deliveries "IN" the box, not "ON" the box. Amazon, UPS, FedEx, USPS, and others have always followed directions and put their deliveries "IN" the box. Only once did Amazon ever put their delivery "ON" the box instead of "IN" the box. I have also rigged up a SimpiSafe window/door entry sensor to the box so that I know whenever it is opened from anywhere in the world. There are also 2 Nest Security Cameras and 1 SimpliSafe Doorbell Camera that record all deliveries.

Learning To Water The Lawn

This is the Upper Backyard at our Vancouver home. We also have a Lower Backyard of almost the same size, plus a pretty large front lawn. Evidently I am supposed to water the lawn to about 1" to 1.5" per week. Recommended is to water 3 times per week for about 30 minutes in each zone. I just managed to figure out how to set up my b-hyve mobile app to be able to control the watering from anywhere in the world.

Christopher Brown is an acclaimed musician, composer, bandleader, and educator who seeks to be a voice within the advocacy of Jazz music and American culture. And through the expansive range of groups that he has assembled and/or performed with which span from duos to Jazz big bands to military marching bands and orchestras - his musical and personal experiences have led him towards an interest in synthesizing the principles of Jazz with the day-to-day practicalities of life. However, given that businesses shape the global market economy that everyone lives and participates in, is why he has found it useful to integrate business philosophies with that of music to help develop himself and his band. Which as he likes to say, "we're all in the same business... the people-trusting-people business. No people, no business."

We are not particularly enthralled with jazz base players, but we seem to be very entertained by Garrett Baxter.

We tried to go to The Fling Cocktail Lounge to listen to Stan O'Kane play, but The Fling was closed due to the storm. Instead we went to the El Torrito near our Anaheim house and had a couple of Cadillac Margaritas along with a Tableside Guacamole.

Normally The Fling has no music on Monday, but Stan will usually play here on a Monday when he doesn't get to play on his usual Wednesday or if The Fling is closed on Sunday for some reason.
