We were here as guests, not members. Living in Vancouver, Washington, it would not be worth the cost of being a member of a private club in Fullerton, California, when we are in town for limited number of days each year. Back in Prohibition Days, this was a Speakeasy. They do have an excellent collection of spirits, especiall the Scotch that Barbara and I like from Islay.

Our history with this building goes way back. The ground level floor of this building used to be the Williams Bros. Camping & Fishing store. They used to carry Boyscout & Girlscout supplies and it was where we purchased all the Girlscout uniforms and supplies for our daughters when they were little. Later the ground level floor was turned into 2 restaurants, including The Rail Restaurant where our Rail Travel Meetup Group would gather every month and for annual Christmas parties. Next door became an Indian restaurant for a while that we ate at a few times. Today the restaurants in this space are The Eliot and The Bowery. The main event space on the second floor used to be a dance studio where I took dance lessons to prepare for Sherica & Brian's wedding. Today it is mostly used for weddings, private events, and public music concerts. We once saw a Red Hot Chili Peppers Tribute Band perform here. The windows from The Preservation Room overlook this event space.

Some Talented Band That I Won't Name Performed At

I feel this was a bait and switch. I would have asked for a refund, but we used a coupon to book our table at half-off. I only booked it because they said the lead player was a saxophone player. He didn't bring his sax tonight. He played the trumpet, the keyboard and sang, but no sax. They also promoted a political viewpoint. I believed they abused their stage presence to promote their political viewpoint. Had I known they were going to do that, I would not have purchased tickets at all. Bands are welcome to have whatever political viewpoint they want, but don't use the stage of a music performance that I paid for to promote your politics without letting me know in advance you are going to do that. Let me decide in advance so I can decide if I want to attend a performance where you are going to promote your politics, whether right or left. If you want to do something patriotic without announcing it in advance, that is OK with me as patriotism is not political.

I will never again buy tickets to a performance by this band because of this. They were talented and we enjoyed the performance, but I believe they abused the stage by using it as an unanounced political platform. Thus, I have removed the name of the band from this post and did not post any photos or videos of the band here. It was considered part of the "Steamers At Jax" series, but there was very little jazz in their performance. I certainly did not leave any tip for the band.
